Accessibility

Stitched Off is made for long stitching sessions, so it should be comfortable for everyone to use. This page lists what the app does for accessibility today, what we're still working on, and how to tell us what would help.

In the app

Colour-blind-safe palettes. In Settings ▸ Accessibility, choose a palette for deuteranopia (red–green), protanopia (red–green) or tritanopia (blue–yellow). It recolours your marks, highlights, selection, parked stitches and the lines drawn over your chart, so they stand apart clearly. Your pattern's own thread colours don't change, and a live preview shows the result as you choose.

Symbols, not just colours. Show your chart as its printed symbols, as colours, or both, so you never have to tell threads apart by colour alone.

Light or dark. In Settings ▸ General, choose Light, Dark, or Match the device.

Less motion. When Reduce Motion is on in your device's settings, Stitched Off skips its celebration animation and stops highlights from pulsing.

A chart that's easier to see. Choose how marked stitches look (filled, highlighted or dimmed), mark them in each thread's colour or one colour of your choice, and set how strongly they show, from 10 % to 100 %. Turn on grid lines and set their thickness, add centre lines, rulers and a guide every 5 or 10 stitches, and pinch to zoom as close as you like.

Pencil or finger. Mark with Apple Pencil and move around with your finger, or mark with your finger. Choose in Settings ▸ Stitching.

What we're working on

VoiceOver. Buttons and controls have VoiceOver labels. We're working through the rest of the app, including a way to explore the chart itself, so that every task can be done with VoiceOver.

Larger text. Most of the app's text follows your device's text size. We're checking every screen at the largest sizes.

This website

We aim for this website to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. It works with a keyboard, shows where you are with a visible focus outline, describes every picture, keeps text readable against its background, and respects your device's Reduce Motion setting. Every page is checked with automated accessibility tests whenever the site changes.

Tell us what would help
