Terms of use
1. Who we are
Stitched Off is made and run by Samuel Makin, an individual based in the United Kingdom ("we", "us"). You can reach us at support@stitchedoff.com.
These terms apply when you use the Stitched Off app on any device, and the Stitched Off account and sync service that goes with it. By using the app you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.
2. What the app does
Stitched Off opens cross-stitch chart PDFs that you choose, reads their grid and legend, and keeps track of your stitching. It does not sell, find, share or supply charts.
3. The free tier
Without paying, you can use:
- the sample pattern that comes with the app, always; and
- the first pattern you import, free for good. Deleting it doesn't free the slot for another pattern.
Everything else in the app that this tier covers works the same as in Pro.
4. Stitched Off Pro
Pro gives you unlimited patterns and sync between your devices (section 6). It comes in two forms:
- Pro yearly: £14.99 a year, with a 14-day free trial.
- The trial starts when you choose it. Unless you cancel at least 24 hours before it ends, it becomes a paid subscription and Apple charges your Apple ID.
- The subscription renews automatically each year at the price then shown, unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the renewal date.
- You cancel in your Apple ID settings (Settings ▸ your name ▸ Subscriptions on the iPad). Deleting the app doesn't cancel it.
- You can use the trial once per Apple ID.
- Pro lifetime: £39.99, paid once. It doesn't renew and doesn't expire for as long as we run the service.
Prices include VAT where it applies and may differ outside the UK, as shown in the App Store. Payment, refunds and billing are handled by Apple under its own terms. We don't see your card details.
One purchase works on every device you sign in to with the same Stitched Off account, including other platforms when the app is available there. Family Sharing is not offered.
5. When Pro ends
If your trial lapses or your subscription ends (for example after you cancel, or after a refund):
- every pattern except the sample and your free pattern is locked. A locked pattern can't be
opened, stitched or synced, but it can still be exported as a
.stitchprojectfile; - nothing is deleted, on your device or in your account. If you subscribe again, your patterns unlock with their progress.
6. Your account and sync
You don't need an account to use the app. You need one only for sync. You can sign in with Apple, with Google, or with your email address and a six-digit code.
When you sync, we keep in your account, privately:
- your patterns' setup and progress, notes and finish-by dates;
- your library settings that aren't about one device;
- the chart PDFs themselves, so each pattern can open on your other devices.
Limits:
- up to 100 MB per PDF; and
- up to 5 GB per account in total.
A PDF over either limit isn't uploaded. The pattern still syncs, and you open the PDF on each device yourself.
Only you can see what is in your account. We don't look at, share or sell your charts or progress. Our staff access the stored data only when the law requires it, or to fix a fault you report and ask us to look at.
7. Acceptable use
You agree that:
- you upload and sync only charts you have lawfully obtained (for example, bought from the designer, or your own designs);
- your account is for you. You won't use it, or the app, to share, distribute or sell charts to anyone else;
- you won't try to get around the limits, the paywall or the security of the service, or to reach anyone else's data;
- you won't use the service in a way that breaks the law.
We can suspend or close an account that breaks these rules, after telling you why where the law lets us.
8. Copyright and takedown
Chart designs belong to their designers. Stitched Off gives you a place to keep and use your own copies, privately; it doesn't give anyone a right to copy or share a chart.
If you own the copyright in a chart and believe it is being stored through our service without permission, write to support@stitchedoff.com with:
- the work;
- why you believe it is infringed; and
- how to contact you.
We will look into it promptly and remove infringing material where the law requires.
9. Deleting your account
You can delete your account at any time in the app: Settings ▸ Account & sync ▸ Delete account. This removes everything we hold for that account from our servers: your rows, your PDFs and the sign-in itself. The patterns on your devices stay there. Deleting the account doesn't cancel an App Store subscription; cancel that in your Apple ID settings (section 4).
10. Changes and availability
We work to keep the service running but can't promise it will always be available or free of faults. We may change these terms. If a change matters, we'll tell you in the app before it applies.
11. Liability
Nothing in these terms limits rights you have as a consumer under UK law, or our liability where the law doesn't allow it to be limited.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction, without taking away any right you have to bring a claim where you live.
